Our startup collaboration platform is designed to radically accelerate the timeline for contract negotiations across a variety of use cases, and we’ve chosen to start with clinical trials agreements.
Why clinical trials, you ask? Let us walk you through our thought process and what we hope to achieve.
Clinical trials are at the heart of medical advancements. They are the bridge between groundbreaking research and life-saving treatments. Unfortunately, the contracting process for these trials is often slow and cumbersome, delaying essential research and negatively impacting lives.
Over 35,000 clinical trials are initiated annually worldwide. Too often, it takes 2-3 months to negotiate a single clinical trial agreement, which is a staggering amount of time considering the urgency of these trials. These delays not only harm businesses, but also patients who are desperately waiting for new treatments to improve their lives.
The Contract Network is here to change that. We see the potential for our collaboration platform to streamline the process, bringing together the various stakeholders in the clinical trial ecosystem – sponsors, clinical research organizations (CROs), and investigators – to create a “contract network” that fosters collaboration and expedites the agreement process.
By focusing on clinical trials agreements as our first use case, we target an area where the impact of our innovation can be felt most acutely. We believe that, by accelerating the negotiation process, we can help the industry bring new treatments to market faster, ultimately saving lives and improving patient outcomes. Furthermore, reducing delays in clinical trials will also help businesses save time and resources, contributing to a more efficient and cost-effective healthcare industry.

Jim Wagner, CEO and Co-founder
Jim is a serial entrepreneur in the legal technology community, most recently serving as VP of Agreement Cloud Strategy for DocuSign, which he joined when DocuSign acquired AI leader Seal Software (where Jim served as President) in 2020. Jim has authored multiple patents and is a recognized leader in the fields of artificial intelligence and analytics for contracting. Jim graduated from Duke University Law School, where he is a frequent guest lecturer and serves on the Duke Law Tech Lab advisory board.
